Aaron Bandstra – Operations Manager Seaview North and Seaview Fairhaven
From an early age Aaron had a passion for building and creating, so after high school it was an easy decision to enroll in the Northwest School of Wooden Boatbuilding. Through the recommendation of an instructor he started his career in the marine industry at Port Townsend Shipwrights Co-Op and later moved on to Petersburg Shipwrights in Alaska. After leaving Petersburg, Aaron travelled the country, heading for the East Coast. Once he settled in Massachusetts, Aaron took a job with the commercial fishing fleet out of Gloucester. Eventually, Aaron returned to dry land and moved on to Essex, where he worked as a boat building instructor at the Essex Shipbuilding Museum and spent his time engaged in various marine projects. While there, he met and married his wife Jessica. In 2004, they relocated to Bellingham and Aaron has been working at Seaview Boatyard ever since.

Although he initially started with Seaview as a shipwright his knowledge and experience made him ideal for management. In 2008, Aaron assumed the role of Operations Manager, lead shipwright, draftsman for both of Bellingham locations. In this capacity, Aaron works closely with boat owners from the initial stages of estimating a project, to coordinating and monitoring the progress of multiple disciplines and sub-contractors, to facilitating the timely completion of work and ensuring that all boats delivered meet the high standards of work for which Seaview is known.

When asked what he likes best about his job, Aaron will unhesitatingly reply that ?I like designing creative solutions for complex problems ? I find the process of understanding the problem, carefully thinking of solutions, designing, building and ordering components and finally installing and testing to be really satisfying?.
