Fiberglass Tech/Topcoat Applicator

Seaview Boatyard North in Bellingham is looking for qualified candidates who have fairing, tooling and gelcoat experience including matching gel-coat colors, applying and finishing gelcoat, matching nonskid patterns and other decorative finishes. We are looking for qualified candidates who have knowledge and experience in the preparation and application of coating systems both for repair and new paint jobs/construction. Experience with use of primers, polyurethane topcoats, acrylic urethane’s, enamels, foam core, polyurethane foam, fabrication of structural parts, painting and finishing. Knowledge of the use of common measuring tools, precision measuring gages and alignment fixtures to perform structural repairs is preferred, but not essential.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES:

  • Perform Topside Paint Jobs

  • 2 Part Urethane

  • 1 Part Urethane

  • Varnish

  • Fill, Grind, Laminate & Fair

  • Color Match Gelcoat & Match Nonskid Patterns

  • Barrier Coat

Additional Skills Welcomed

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • One-two years of experience with Fiberglass/Gelcoat/Topcoat Applications

 

WORKING CONDITIONS: 

  • Outdoors most of the time 

  • Occasional extreme outdoor temperatures and weather. 

  • Occasional exposure to extreme heights. 

  • Exposure to adverse ventilation conditions where use of a respirator will be required. 

 

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Flexibility to work in the standing, squatting, or kneeling position, as well as reaching overhead with occasional twisting and bending while performing any of the above tasks. 

  • Stair and ladder climbing is required. 

  • Ability to work in small spaces. 

  • Minimal lifting of 50+ lbs Required 

 

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:

  • Schedule is Monday-Friday from 7:45 am to 5:00 pm

  • Must work as part of a team with a good attitude.

  • Must be punctual and have excellent work ethic.

Pay Range: $29.00-$35.00 Hourly DOE
