Tiel Riise - President

Tiel represents the second generation of leadership in the Riise family business. Don't mistake this for case of entitlement though, as in the Riise family everything is earned and nothing is taken for granted. Starting out with a summer job at the age of 14 assisting the Travelift operator at Seaview East, Tiel has worked his way up through the organization. Other than a brief sabbatical working on a seiner in the famous Southeast Alaska commercial fishing fleet, Tiel has spent his entire working life at Seaview Boatyard.After mastering Travelift operations, Tiel spent 3 years working as a shipwright in the Wood Department. In 2003, he transferred to Bellingham. Two years later he was promoted to General Manager of the Bellingham and Seattle locations. In this role, he travelled between all of the facilities to assist in training and overseeing the yard operations managers and department leads, troubleshooting complex repairs and coordinating major refits and restorations.

As Vice President of Operations, Tiel works in conjunction with the president and the management team to coordinate and oversee operation of the Seattle and Bellingham boatyards. He assists the President in developing short and long-term plans for the company and participates in the industry's government and environmental programs.

Tiel also has a love of boating that stems from his childhood. Prior to settling down, Tiel sailed down the coast to San Francisco and delivered a 62' Nordhaven from Seattle to Panama City. These days he enjoys cruising in the San Juans, the Gulf Islands and Desolation Sound with his wife Desiree and his sons, Karsten and Soren. When on dry land, Tiel likes to spend his time relaxing with his family, and golfing or skiing.
